Development of a cosmetic product containing bacteriophages to maintain the natural skin microflora (KOSMOFAG)
Identification Code: CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/17_176/0015580
Expected finish of the project: 2022
The project focuses on the research of bacteriophages suitable for the prevention of pathogenic skin bacteria and the maintenance of the natural skin microflora. It will lead to the creation of a suitable cosmetic form in which the phages retain their stability and effectiveness. The result will be a revolutionary antibacterial anti-acne product that will contain phages or phage enzymes and will compete with available anti-acne products due to its unique composition. The aim of the project is to carry out industrial research and experimental development of a new cosmetic product that will contain bacteriophages or the enzymes they produce. This cosmetic product will prevent the deposition of pathogenic bacteria on the skin and thus help maintain the natural protective microflora. The result will be a utility model and the cosmetic product will be further put into production. As part of the project, bacteriophages from the company's collection will be tested, but phages acting preventively on pathogenic skin bacteria will also be newly isolated. The product will thus contribute to the maintenance of the natural skin microflora and thus have an indirect positive effect on human health. The project aims to create a suitable formulation of a cosmetic product and conditions for the preparation of a product with bacteriophages, which will ensure its high effectiveness, availability, intoxicity and durability.
